i'll let it rest for week or so and post the pix :) make that 2 weeks. i won't be here next week. x)

with mild weather, Chiappetta is coming along very nicely.

Pete you won't be disappointed with the figs it produces. I'm putting one in ground and keeping one in a pot for backup.

tony, i'm hoping to taste it next yr. can't wait :)

Very nice plant.  Thanks for not making us wait the two weeks to see the pic! :D

Best looking chia pet I have ever seen.

sure beat this one..

Too bad those aren't fig seedlings. Jon can have a new product to sell. Cha Cha Chia!

That link is to the family business of the farm of the Chiappetta family (in San Vincenzo La Costa, Cosenza, Italy) where this tree came from, as described by Art (kubota1).  He described it as Chiappetta Unknown  (formerly Calabria-1905 Unknown).  Seems like a fast grower.  Art posted pics of the ripe fig   http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/Free-cuttings-6023167?highlight=chiappetta last fall.

p.s.  Though the family web site is mostly about their Olive Oil business, you can see the fig trees in some of the photos in the rotation on the home page of that site.

the young tree is very vigorous. it came last week.. and it's recovering from the trip very nicely. all the leave stems are now all perky and new leaves are already coming out. lovely tree.

Congratulations Pete!
Your young Chiappetta is the best I have seen recently
Nice, strong, healthy and branching just like the 'book' recommends ...it will work for a life in pot or a later replanting in the ground.
Iam  sure it will give you nice figs
