PIX: Jason's Unk Ischia Black

so.. along with Maltese Beauty, i received two cuttings of Jason's Unk Ischia Black. they both rooted and now sitting outside.

the light edge is not sunburn on these leaves.. it's just a trace of famous NC yellow haze.

I hope it lives up to all the hype. I will be watching for your updates on this fig.

art, i hope so too. i'm growing USDA/UCD Ishia Black, Joson's Unk IB, and Col. Littman's Black Cross. i'm sure CLBC is not same as Ischia Black, but the specks on the skin and dark color remind me of IB so i'm trying to see if it matches up. IB should put on few figs this yr. Jason's Unk and CLBC will have to wait till next or yr after.

Look forward one day when your able to compare them .

martin, you know i'll post it here.. lol

Here is a photo of my Unknown Black Ishia.  It grew a ton for me last season and I'm sure I will get to try it this year.

dan,

both made it and they are growing rather fast now.. hot weather followed by sudden cool weather seems to be pushing the growth really fast. looking forward to this one to put on the figs.

Mine has been a slow grower and believe it or not it is still no taller than 6" or 8" but has fruit on it already. I started it during the time when Jason was passing the cuttings of it out to everyone.
Last year it produced one fruit but I shared it with one of my pet squirrels. I think I will up pot it this year and pump it up with fertilizer.

My boss has this saying. "If you want to grow like an Elephant, Ya gotta eat like an Elephant"

I've never killed anything with too much Fertilizer. Only slowed them down with not enough.

If I get one to ripen this summer, you can drive down and have the first one.

In this case then I've been eating like a fashion model.

Here is a photo of what I believe to be a Breba of this fig.  It appears to be very small and shiney with white specs, growing like a weed, but not putting on many if any main crop figs.  Harvest in 2-3 days?
