i think i rooted the cutting last yr.. jon was selling ton of Panache cuttings and i grabbed some. so it's 2nd yr tree. 

Taste those and then tell me all figs taste alike  :)

I didn't realize this variety was so dangerous.

Looks good, but isn't it a difficult plant for the south east? I haven't added it to my collection because of what I've read, so it will be interesting to hear how it ripens for you..

Are those, two biggies, brebas ?
The tree kept them because you have the tree potted.
My neighbor's Panache tree lost his brebas once more ... The tree is 1,80 meters high .
I haven't seen the maincrop appear already here in my Zone7.

This is the first year I see brebas on my panachee, they seem to be holding on, 1 should make it not sure about the other two, they are staying rather small and don't seem to be growing.

Is Panachee the same as Panache? Jon's description says it's mealy. Doesn't make it sound that great. I have one too with some figs on board. Guess I'll find out.

they are main crops. i rarely get good brebas here on any of my trees. not sure why. some trees do put on late brebas.

i held off on Panache for long time. mainly due to its performance in humid area, and some indicating rubbery skin. not to mention, everyone seems to want it for what it looks like. but i keep hearing how good it is in area with long hot summer. so when jon had some available, i got some to try.

I'm with you Pete. I did the same thing. I finally caved this past spring.

Though I got brebas, they've never ripened for me either.

It may burst in the humidity but if you have it protected with an organza bag it still tastes great.  I've never had one be mealy but the skin can be a little tough.  Either chew it or scrape the innards off with your teeth  :)

I'm really looking forward to hear what you think of a ripe Panache.
I'm going to leave mine in the greenhouse all summer. I plan on trying one myself this year.

They are not mealy, the ones I got from UCD, they are sweet and tasty, made really excellent jam as well.  I should have tried to dry them as I believe they would have been excellent dried.
