--- PIX: Pastiliere main

Hi,
The fig from greenfig is what I would call a pastiliere - small and round .
The description from Eisen is from another fig .A pastiliere will never reach 3 inches .
Pastiliere or Rouge de Bordeaux ... Mine planted this year has some figs ( maincrops only strain) ... I'll surely test them later in September/October here .
Even good people make mistakes :)

Pastilliere I have heard drops figs when it is young and as it matures it drops less, although Martin destroyed his due to the fact it kept dropping it's figs.  When I get this variety, I will plant it in ground and see how well it does, it is supposed to be resistant to cold so with proper winter protection I am hoping I can avoid some of the dropping issue by having it in ground.

Jdsfrance,
Thanks for your assurance!
I assumed it was a Pastiliere until the Francisco's post and Calvin's observation.
I hope it still is as you say.

Chivas,
Mine has not dropped a fig. Maybe a better climate or the wasp or both?

This is may be the reason Greenfig, I am not sure but I would like to find out, it looks like a great fig to have.

Despite my poor command of the English language what I said was, I believe, crystal/clear:

Quote:-
....Congratulations.. these are gorgeous figs and fantastic, professional pictures!
Unquote/...

The mentioning of Eisen was just to illustrate how high this 'FigFounder' placed this cultivar, when he said that ... if the writer could plant only one blue variety, it would certainly be this fig...

I did not enter into any considerations regarding fruit sizes, shapes and colors neither leaves because these aspects vary a lot....just try to google pics/talk on this Pastillière fig and you will have lots of information and pictures..not always the same.

for instance
http://www.galgoni.com/ENG/Fotos_Maxi/032.htm
shows this variety with sort of orange tones in its pulp colors and clearly states fruit size very similar to what Eisen said (5 to 8 CM  or  2 to 3 inch)

here you have this fig with different contours, neither round nor oblong..etc..

Lost to birds my  first to ripen Pastilliere's over 2 weeks ago ! Hope to manage to keep the last ones for me and then will show pictures.....but the insides will be orange!

Thank you, Francisco, for your clarification!
I guess, we can blame the cultural differences :)
We misunderstood your "gorgeous" fig complement since you didn't explicitly said it was the Pastiliere.

At the end you mentioned that the inside of your Pastiliere is going to be orange. Is it because the conditions are different, or water, or weather ?
It would be interesting to try to grow yours next to mine and keep track of the changes (not that it is possible though) and see if that orange would become bloody red.

Igor,  Good!

you say:..'' We misunderstood your "gorgeous" fig complement since you didn't explicitly said it was the Pastiliere.

Well,  the topic was yours and it was not about  -Brown Turkey-

I got the message.
