Planting bare root fig tree

Hie all i bought a 2 yr old bare root "Deanna" fig (finally came in the mail today.) I have put it in a shopping bag with moist potting mix while i prepare a "grocery list" to purchase my supplies to pot up all my other figs in 1 go.

I have read on some websites that i should cut the tree down a bit when planting (it looks like it was cut anyways -see picture below terminal bud nipped off?). Its currently about 700mm tall (27 inches)

It will be pot grown. Do i need to cut it down further? I will be putting it in a 580mm  (22 inch) diameter pot (580mm height) cut drum like the one that has my currently dormant sugar plum. Potting mix  will be 30% coco coir, 30 % potting mix, 30% compost. i find this mixture do have great moisture retention and its "light" for the plants.

Any advice and hints and tips are welcome.

I would say since it has no leaves you don't need to cut it down further.  The new leaf growth will be determined by root development and all will be balanced.
