Planting inground trees

Hi!

A patch on an edge of my loan got freed up, a perfect fig spot.
I have several 1 gal figs rooted this year with a fairly developed root system (can be easily uppotted into 3-5 gals).
When is the best time to plant them in the ground? Is now ok or I should wait until the figs are dormant? I think we have 1.5 months of the warm weather.

There are probably more things to know before the inground planting but that would be my first, the rest of the figs I have are in pots of diff sizes.

What would you suggest? Do the figs care at all?
Does the early fall planting work?

The climate is Southern Californian, far from the coast.

Thanks!

I would be interested to hear opinions/advice on this also.  I have only one tree in the ground right now b/c most are smaller trees and I didn't want to take a chance on putting them in the ground and risk losing them over the winter.  I'm in the northeast corner of Texas and the last few years, you can never tell WHEN our warm weather will end.

Plant them now, or yesterday.  Fall is the ideal time in our Mediterranean climate to plant trees.  Roots of most trees will grow well during the fall and you'll have a larger root system established when spring comes and the roots will be more able ti meet the demands of the growing tree.

I think that Igor can plant anytime he is in Sunny Los Angeles, I am concerned about planting in Texas, I know it can get pretty cold. Will a young tree survive a cold snowy winter...????   It was great to Hear that Igor found some extra Lawn to Plant Figlets.

Thanks, Harvey!
My Preto will go in tomorrow!
