Planting potted plants deeper than root level

I have some young rooted plants in pots. Some of the have long trunks (i had cut long suckers to root). Is t better to plant them deeper than the root level meaning coverng their long trunk better or should i plant at root level. Here is a pic.  WIN_20170729_185509.JPG

Hi Lydios!
I planted a noid black fig deep last fall, then asked if it was a mistake. The response was that there was no problem, and that with multiple 'trunks', it would be hedge-like. Cool! Besides, you'll have good roots, and a greater likelihood of survival there's a bad freeze.
Here's a pic from a few days ago, and it has ~10 figs on it. This went from nearly dead last fall, to healthy and fruiting less than a year later.

What varieties are you growing?
What city or zone are you in?

I have 2 fig (unknown varieties - collected locally from neighbors)  grown in pot for 2 years.  Then after the last frost date in North Texas (DFW area) - I planted them in the ground.  Both - I planted about 8 inch deeper than what was on the pot.  Both leafed out fine and very vigorous growing now.  I think - somewhere I read - you can plant figs few inches deeper to make it bushier looking.

Thank you for the replies guys.

I live in Greece not clue what zone ths is. Maybe 9b or 10.
I just rooted cuts from big trees that are growing local and have been planted back in the days. One variety is called  ''tsapela''. I don;t know if in english it is being transcribed as this.
I like to try to propagate well established local trees.

Where in Greece are you from? My wife's family is from Rhodes south side of the island

Sohelz--it makes sense that planting the fig tree deeper would give it a bigger root system and bushier growth. I suspect this is true of many plants that root readily from the stem.
Lydios and Sohelz--do you have pictures of your trees, leaf and fruit?

I kind of envy these growers in warm areas where many plants grow so easily, although I realize that any zone will have its advantages and disadvantages. The tulips and hyacinths that grow effortlessly here in zone 6 are nearly impossible for my trading buddies in more tropical areas...it doesn't stop me from trying to grow bananas andthe like....

,

my inground trees were planted with the top of the root ball 12'' underground. this protects  from both cold n drought.
the buried trunks have grown roots pllus branches. people call these suckers but they are just branches.
