Celeste ,do drop figs in NJ,because of our climate,i trialed 5 specimen before giving up.
Black Spanish might be too young,but,i also trialed a few and found ,they can't take rain while ripening,so no more Black Spanish for me.
It seem to me ,you grow the wrong cultivars for the NJ climate.
Get rid of them,if you want to be a fig gardener In NJ,and be successful,grow:
Improved Celeste (ORN)
Adriatic JH
Malta Black
St Anthony
Longue D'Aout
Negretta
For a start:Then once you enjoy your own ripe fruits,you can try other difficult to grow cultivars,in NJ.
