Please help ID this fig

Got a fig tree from my neighbor about a month ago. He bought the tree in one-gallon pot from Lowes back in April and it was labeled as Kadota. The tree is now loaded with figs and all of them were green. Last week or so a couple of the figs started to ripen and turned kind of burgundy/brownish in color. Obviously, this is no Kadota.

What do you think it is?

Brown Turkey

Brown Turkey

I agree brown turkey

Thanks for the prompt responses, guys. Greatly appreciated. For some reason, I was under the impression Brown Turkey was somewhat smaller.

how did it taste?

Very sweet.

Thanks for the link. So, it must be Texas Blue Giant then.

My Lowes Kadota turned out be LSU Purple, Lowes Green Ischia turned out to be LSU Purple, Lowes BT.... you bet LSU Purple. My Lowes LSU Purple has not set fruit but the leaves do match the others so 1 out of 4 is a better record than TY TY. I have never heard of Lowes selling TxBG, actually I have never heard of TxBG being cloned in any lab. Oh well.

Yeah, buying fig trees from any nursery is usually a gamble when it comes to labeling. Thanks for your input and thanks for adding to the puzzle as well... Lol.

Otmani007  remove Monstrueuse from your wish list. I got you this fall.

Hi Otmani007,
Not brownturkey - "something brownturkey" perhaps but not regular brownturkey .
Why call a violet fig by BROWN - Turkey ?
The leaves are not a match for my Brownturkey. The leaves on that tree are serrated.
I'm still to harvest my first main crop this year, but from memory, the inside is redish on my Brownturkey . The eyes are not opened like that on my BT.
So probably an unknown for now ... I don't know the tbg so could be - but don't quote me on that :) .
Pics of more fruits would probably help .

Seeing the ebay TBG makes me think that it could be.  My TBG figs look the same as the ebay listing but the fig presented here may be an immature TBG.  If it is a mature fig I will stand by my original thought....BT

Yes, it is an immature fig. Fig was picked about 2 days early as it called for rain for the next couple of days. So, I picked it few days early since it has kind of an open eye.

That fig is a randomly obtained hybrid of Brown Turkey.
In simple words ,made from pollinated fruits of a original Brown Turkey mother.
Possible good in hot dry climates but very bad in rainy difficult climates to grow.

Appreciate all the responses. I'll jus call it a "FIG" and as long as "FIG" is sweet, then I'm a happy camper and if it happens to have honey flavor, that'll be a big bonus.
