Leaves of three....
You be careful Frank!

I've had good luck smothering mine out using sheet mulching....layer of cardboard covered in leaves and then wood chips.

What is that?

Yep! If you have a sensitivity to it, you might want to steer clear of it. Maybe give it a dose of Gly-4 ;) .

Fortunate for me, I have never been sensitive to Poison Ivy. I can pull it bare handed, rub it on my face, and never scratch a bit. My poor wife on the other hand...........

Burn it! Actually, don't. It goes in your lungs and bad things happen.

Rafed - It's Poison Ivy.

Give it a good dose of Roundup

looks like it. tho ones i see on the hikes have the center leaf little closer to other two. do not burn it. the smoke can cause some serious issues with lung.

Thought so, but the red stem threw me for a second. Good thing I didn't do a Euell Gibbons on it as is my usual habit.

I get 2-3 outbreaks of rhus a year. Steroids work but I don't like the side effects. What I hate most is how long it takes to get over an outbreak. I found a really good product called Tecnu that seems to help prevent onset if used right after exposure, though.

Looks a lot like it, but like Pete said, the center leaf stalk is usually shorter.
Put on some neoprene gloves and pull on it. If you see runners just above the ground, you got the real stuff.
There'll be nodes every couple of inches. These nodes form roots, and even if you pull out the runners, those bits stay stuck in the ground, and will grow into new plants.
Watch your wrists! When you're handling such long stems, one is bound to swipe across the wrist or forearm.
Pull your gloves inside out, and use an inside out garbage bag to pick them out, throw them in the garbage.
I don't want to sound like an advertisement, but thank you to the makers of Tecnu!

Yeah, Doc.  Steer clear of that bad boy.  So happy we don't have that here in Hawaii, but when we lived on the mainland, my first encounter with that nastiness put me down for awhile.  Bathe that nasty with some Roundup.

Nate

Definately poison ivy.  If you go the weed killer route remember who profits off of round up (Monsanto).

Roundup would only help if it is actively growing so that it can pull the chemical in.  If it is already fully grown then roundup will only kill the leaves and it will come back stronger next year.
I would say dig it up and try and get all the roots and then throw in garbage bag.  All that without touching it and make sure to clean your tools after.
