Was visiting a friend this weekend on the Northern Neck. He has a place on the Potomac within view of the Chesapeake Bay. His fig tree is planted on the water side of his property and is expose to full sun and salt spray from the river/bay. He has never protected his tree and has had it about 20 years. The person who gave him the tree claim it to be "Mary Washington Fig", could this be a Celeste from Mary Washington Estate? I'm not see a fig with this name.
The fruit is dark when ripe and a little larger than a quarter, it ripens starting about late July/early August into Sept/Oct, and very sweet, this fig tree is why I wanted to start growing figs. I had a taste about 2 years ago and just got around to taking some cutting this weekend.
Thanks for the help and any suggestions on starting the cuttings would be great, they are currently sitting in water with their leaves and some figs on them. And if I can't get a the pictures posted, please advise me.
