Please Help to Save this Black Madeira Cutting

Hi guys I have this single BM cutting that rooted earlier, transferred in a pot with 50-50 per lite and potting mix and keep in the next to the window in a humid environment. For the last month it seems like going no where. i try to open the bag sometimes to harden it but every time i did that the new leaves become black and fall off. Black IMG_6756.JPG  IMG_6757.JPG  IMG_6758.JPG  IMG_6759.JPG  IMG_6760.JPG  Madeira is not available in Australia and I want to save this one for rest of us down under fig enthusiasts. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Is that mould at the top?

Bexley rabbit mate is not mold.
Alan I will try to vent out everyday without fail from now, and increase time gradually to see what happens.
Thanks guys but anyone know why the growth is so slow? What can i do to boost it?

Glad it's not mould but wonder what it is? Anyway, at this stage I give mine some Seasol and Charlie Carp but at half-strength than the recommended. A foliar feed also works for me and I notice considerable growth as a result.

Bexley, I've heard foliar feeding mentioned several times lately on the forum..had never heard of it before. Do you use a misting bottle? What's the technique?
Thanks.
PS> Good luck, Kausik. Wonder if a tall clear bin (50-60cm tall) might be better than baggy. Keeps a moist microclimate around the plant but allows you to use the lid to adjust/reduce humidity over time. I've noticed that any time a leaf touches baggy, it suffers.

Judging from what i have seen with mine I would check the roots, that seems to be what happens when i have root rot starting...

Rick, when my cuttings move  from the Root Riot Cubes into one gal pots, they all get regular foliar spray of 1/4 tsp of
Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro 9-3-6.

Yes, for cuttings I mist using a small spray bottle (seaweed and fish emulsion at half-strength). For larger established plants, use a watering can until run-off early in the morning (at full strength). That way, the leaves can dry during the day and do not remain wet overnight.

Had same issues with some of mine. I'm thinking it was root problems. Transplanted to bigger cups with 50/50 Ultimate Potting Mix and perlite. They seem to have responded well. I keep them in indirect sunlight in a bigger plastic bin. Gradually weaning them off the bin. I'm keeping it open for a half hour longer each day. None of them with the issues like yours are BM. BM seems to be a slow grower for me.

mate,

are the buds turning mushy, or drying out? i can't tell from the pix. if they are turning mushy, too much hunmidity is the problem. i doubt the leaves dry out in that set up :)

Hi Kausikck76,
That bag is too tight.
The cutting needs more air to grow. Do you have a bigger bag ?
I would put the pot in a bigger bag or in a clear plastic bin. The leaves shouldn't touch the plastic .

From the moisture on the bag, you've been watering too much; I would stop watering for two weeks .
How much watering have you been giving ?

Way to humid like others said.

hi kauskick, peter here (adelaide)
yea i agree far too wet, suprisingly cuttings like to be fairly dry
id take the cup out of the bag but it in a 10 ltr. bucket and cover
with glad wrap.

Id do what Peter said cause it doesnt look dead or rotted or the green ends would have fallen off,if ur worried scratch the bark just a little and see if its green good luck.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I will transfer today into bigger pot and put in a bigger humidity bin. Hopefully I can save this one.
