Very innovative Bass, hope you get something fantastic from this

Bass,
Were you successful in keeping the seedlings alive? Any updates?

The Iranian wild mountain fig seedling is still growing, with lots of suckers which will have to be pruned.

Looking great, Yes the seedlings from my experiments are about a foot tall, and the iranian seedlings are gaining size. Thanks for sharing the photo they look very unique.

Bass, did you leave your Iranian seedlings outside for the winter?  I did and mine died to the mulch line.  They are shooting back nicely now.  The soil around their roots froze solid so I'm glad to see them shooting back upwards.  I'm hoping they toughen up as they get older.  It was a good tough winter....a real zone 5 challenge.  Thanks again.

I LOVE these experiments!  Such fun!  Thanks for the thread and all the updates.  Keep them coming!!

Bass, were your caprifigs persistent types? I'm trying to figure out type of caprifig is used for calimyrna figs in California. If it is persistent caprifig than it stands that getting a common persistent type from any California fig(mission, panache, sierra)with pollinated seed has a chance of producing a common edible persistent type. Anyone?

Greg thanks for the update. They're really small to be left outside but nice to hear they came back. Keep us posted
