pollination

I bought figs from Turkey namely..white patlican, green patlican , sarizeybek, mini purple figs, mini nut figs, brown figs, and green figs. The seller claim they are self pollinated figs but friends say they are not self pollinated . Can anyone enlighten me. Are they self pollination type otherwise they are waisted because there is no figs wasps in my county. Tq.

Ismail,

Welcome to the forum.

If your supplier (s) said the plants are parthenocarpic, it's  because they are,  and I wouldn't waste anymore  time and go ahead and root them. There is a good deal of figs in Turkey that ripen without pollination.
Good luck

Welcome Ismail, I do not have any but what I have been told is that they are common figs, do not need the fig wasp. Others on the forum will give more information based upon what they know.

I have heard that the patlican figs are parthenocarpic that is not from personal experience though I am go out on a limb and assume they.  I would trust the seller until proven wrong.

Thank you friends, three of you who care to advise me of the figs cuttings. I have to go ahead with it be it self pollinated or not.

Is it possible to see if a fig is self pollinating or not if I am looking on the fruit or other places?

I want to know because I want to get cuttings from Turkey. I have got friends there...

Hello Diamond_72

With friends there I would not be worried
Just specify that the figs must be parthenocarpic . i.e. not needing pollination by the fig wasp.

I have no particular friends there and have bought (eBay) and received the figs I ordered

Unless you are familiar with the trees on site, you cannot tell if they are Common , Smyrna or San Pedro just by looking at the tree with or without fruit

hope this helps
