Ponte Tresa question...

After all the hype with Ponte Tresa, anyone who has this variety could give their opinion about the quality of
The fruit growing in the States?

A common problem. I have chased down many many fad fig varieties only to find they are not producing super wonderful figs!
I live in zone 7A in humid Virginia and my climate is just very VERY different then it is in other locals.
I have spent many years trying to ID the best figs for where I live.
Yes I still go after the "hopeful greats" but have not found them to be as great as advertised -- and they certainly are advertised!!!
I can not yet make any real solid judgements as I have too many "great, rare, etc." fig plants that have only produced for a few years -- just not enough time to tell.
THE JURY IS STILL OUT.

As far as I know, only Frank (FMD) has gotten it to fruit in the states.

Rafael had some ripe fruits last season in the states.

Vineeth is correct, I obtained two ripe fruits last season, the second one was particularly promising. Rewton is aware I ripened two fruits, I guess he forgot. I am unable to resize the pics at this time but they were attractive looking. I will say that several other known varieties produced far better fruits on a first year tree, such as Martinenca Rimada and De La Reina. But a first year fruit is not a fair marker as a general matter.

It will be good to hear reports of the people that tasted Ponte Tresa in the States.

Nice!! I hope you can get better fruit next year.

Willing to work for a fresh fig....

Rafael, you are right - I was aware that you got it to fruit and I forgot.  Glad to hear you think it's promising.  I have a healthy one in ground and there are no main crop figs setting yet.  I also have one in a container that isn't as healthy looking (water stress/hydrophobic potting mix?) and it also doesn't have any figs set yet.  So I would be surprised if I taste it this year unless we get a very long Fall.

Steve i am not seeing any main crop yet either, a lot of young plants are way behind due to the cold spring
