Looks best to me. Less bright on the eyes shows the colors better.

I find the "a" version easier to look at.  I find myself straining with the black background.
The leaf background seems more defined - less like a watermark - than the background on the new site.  I find it a little distracting.

The "a" version is easier for me to look at.  I, too find my eyes straining to focus with the black background.

In my opinion, the black "1" version is easier to read and focus.

I like the layout of "b" (black) but would prefer a very light color (soft green?) or white in place of black. The black makes it too hard to see. The background in "a" (green leaves) is too busy for a background. Maybe if you lightened it 50% it would be easier to read.

You're not making this easy.

I think that neither is what we realy want. Pictures present better with a black background, but there is something still missing, that I can't quite put my finger on.

I agree with Sue, that the leaf background is "too busy".

Ain't this fun?! ;-))

This seems to be breaking along gender lines, LOL.

OK, I took a stab at a format that seems to work. Tweaking it later should be simple enough. It will allow me to start entering pictures. So, the new format has been used for Black Mission and Blue Giant. I have enterred the pix from Ken Love for Adriatic and Barnisotte in the new format, but will have to back track and change over the older pix in the future. One little step at a time.

Hi Jon,
A question - are you deliberately linking your footnote code (910) to an e-mail form instead of the web site, or is that a glitch?
EDIT: I started having trouble getting to the F4F website starting  yesterday afternoon.  I was able to go to Black Mission this morning, but now can't get the webpage up.  Has the site been having problems, or is it my computer?

fignut,

I didn't make much sense for me to link my stuff to the website, since the links are intended to let the reader access the original sources, and I am the original source for my stuff - so there isn't really anything to link to - sort of a catch 22. The same thing happens with many of the pieces of info I got from GW posters - so the links go to their GW pages, and people, can access them that way.

I didn't have a problem with the website, but I wasn't using it this a.m. I will have to find a new server soon, as this one definitely doesn't get is (1 and 1) . I did get some short "service not available" outages this week, though, so it is probably not you.

I like your latest version for pictures.  The thin green lines help define the boundaries of the photos.

last is best
