I got an air layered fig about three weeks ago.  It was about 5 ft long with one inch diameter limb with leaves and 5 figs on it.  I cut it back to 2 ft with one leaf and little green buds at each ring.  The leaf fell off in about a week.  The buds are still green.  I have watered it twice with one half inch equivalent rain.  It is in a 2 gallon bucket with a hole in the bottom.  Should I plant it now or wait till spring?  Only storage I have is a room that stays about 50 to 60 degrees.  Should I fertilize and how much?  How often should I water and how much?  I live in north Mississippi.  It is in potting soil.  Thanks.

either one is fine as long as it havent or just recently broke dormancy

How cold does it get in your area?  You'll have a better chance at survival if you wait until spring to plant it.  At that time, you may fertilize.  I use Osmocote and simply add a couple of tablespoons mixed in the soil.  That's it for me.
My garage stays at 50-60°f throughout the winter as well, and they do fine staying dormant.  You should add a cup of water about once a month during the winter.  Just enough to keep the media slightly damp.  Welcome to the forum!

Great advice Frank!
