I'll post a picture as soon as I can, but I wintered 2 fig trees inside under spot lights. Amazingly, they produced a lot of normal sized leaves in the 2nd half of the winter before taking them outside.
Unfortunately, due to the cramped space by a window, the new growth was leaning on the wall. When moving the plants outside, the trees evidently did not support the new growth, counting on the wall being there. So outside in the open, they bent down, unable to hold the weight.
I was forced to prune off most of the new growth, so that the trees could remain upright and not be in danger of breaking in the wind.
Now, new leaves sprouted eventually all over both plants. Strangely however, they are on the whole about 1/4 the size of normal fig leaves, all much smaller and in great numbers.
Its been many weeks and the leaves don't grow any bigger! I now have two mini-leaf fig trees. No fruit is being produced either.
I added fertilizer, but it seemed to make no difference.
Anyone see this before, and know what might be happening?
