Hello Figman and welcome to the forum

Nice looking fig.
What else can you tell us about it? Where is it from?
How did it get its name Pradisco?

What is your name?

Thank you

That one looks like the Brunswick variety I hear speak of. Excuse me for my poor manners, Figman welcome to the forum, a nice looking specimen of a fig.
"gene"

Thank you for the welcome from the other collectors. I have been raising figs for only 3 years and I have alot to learn about them.
This fig tree I purchased from a grower in Mass. 3 years ago. The name Pradisco means "paradise" I think. The taste is one of the best I've ever had, fruits are large. I need to take a picture of one cut open to post. The plant grows very fast with large strong shoots. It withstands strong winds very well unlike some of the others. The leaves are narrow, I guess that helps.
Thanks again for the welcome

Figman, i think the name of the fig should be paradiso nero , which means black paradise. There is also a paradiso bianco, which  is white. Check it out at

 www.ficuscarica.com. Nice fig very tasty.

Thank you for the info, I will check it out, glad to be a member here, I have so much to learn. David

Welcome to the forum figman. From my own personal Experience the fig known as Paradiso to the Italian community here in Ontario is generally Paradiso Nero dont let the nero part fool you its not a black fig but a bronzey purplish colour. When your figs start to ripen please post pics of a fig cut in half with a picture of the leaf.

Here is a Picture of my Paradiso Nero.

figman11.....you wouldn't happent to be living in Kentucky would you?  The photo you posted looks just like one a Facebook friend just posted.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thank you for the pictures of that wonderful fig tree. I think it is the same as I have. I am including a picture of one cut open next to a leaf.

Brunswick is also called Madona,Datto, and Paradiso ,in Italy.
In a few location is a very good fig, especially in Israel, with the dry climate there, but in most location,is a problem, because it sour easily and sucks in water, during and after rain,+ it got an open eye and Fig beetle loves the interior open caviuty to feed on.
Some of you guys got a Brunswick, not a superior Paradiso,Like Nelson is showing in his pix.

Interesting..... thank you for the info

and many refer to the Magnolia and Brunswick as same variety.
