Praying Mantis moulting on fig leaf! (pic)

Caught this Mantis, rather it jumped onto my hand a few days ago while air layering a Red Maple.  I walked it over to my Brown Turkey where it has stayed under this same leaf.  Finally figured out it is moulting!  Never have seen a mantis shed skin before and thought some might enjoy it. :)

Nice picture! That mantis should help keep down the pests.

That is a big one.

Very neat:)

Nice photo. Those I let live, the other insects that eat my leaves and mess up my figs, just better start PRAYING.

That is awesome! Mantises are so fun. I love stumbling on some with my kids. They're totally entranced - like me - for a long time.

This was a highly controversial pic for birders years ago, in which a mantis catches and kills a hummingbird. That's a bad bug!

Nice pic.

Arne,
Also a bullfrog. Hummers are the size of really big bugs after all.

She's still camping out under that leaf.  This was taken the morning after moulting...

Right now it's storming but I braved enough to go have a look.  She's using that leaf as a shelter.

You are lucky to have that little bug reducing helper.
Nice photos!

Very nice Charlie, my favorite insect.
