Preto

The couple of figs that ripened last month were really good. A few more clung on to the tree and only started ripening last week. Here's a picture of one that dropped from the tree today. It had an acidy flavor with just about no sweetness. I'll be interested to see how this tree does next year. Anyone else have anything to report on Preto?

Mine never ripened and are still on small plant , its too cold here now darn it .

Wow Matt! You got figs off the Preto already? Great job and nice looking fruit! The figs on the mother tree are excellent. High in fig flavor with a good amount of sweetness. It's a keeper, give it time.

I was actually very impressed with the Preto, for such a young plant it put out more than a dozen figs. Apparently 2 figs ripened in mid september so I was told by my mother who enjoyed them wish I would of got to taste one.

Oh well theres always next year.

I ended up with around 30 extra cuttings this past season so I rooted them late summer. Most made it (so far).

New pix from a fruit picked one week ago, where they almost haven't seen the sun this summer.
