preto??

Does anyone have a healthy preto they would like to trade. Everyone says it's healthier then black madeira but not mine for some reason. I have a few things to trade, like aubique petite, nero 600m, and others. I had a couple preto cuttings a few years ago and I only have one that has made it this far but the fmv is so bad it just doesn't seem to want to out grow it. Let me know if anyone wants to trade their healthy preto.

Ryan,

Seems like a hit or miss.  I have 2 in SIPS with exact same treatment, yet one stalled a couple months ago, while the other won't stop growing.  Not sure what the variable is.

I guess you are right about the hit and miss, Frank.

it's root slowly grow, sun and heat stress on this pant

put it in shade and remove damaged leaves, it may survive and do better next year

Its very hot Kuwait. potted plants will die if not protected from sun and hot winds

Hi Ryan, I just started a couple of layers on my Preto. If you don't find one, I may be able to send you one in 6-8 weeks.

Thanks Gary, I appreciate that, let me know when you have one ready, thanks.

Ryan, that's one sick plant, for sure. Are you sure the problem is fmv? Most of my fig trees have fmv and only one has a leaf curl on a few leaves remotely similar to what you have there. (My tree was just was planted in the ground.) It looks like there is one or two healthy older leaves on your tree (the good leaf looks a lot better than my two fmv Pretos' leaves) and then this new growth that's shell shocked. Have you been doing anything culturally different in the last month or two? Could the dog be peeing on it? Root nematodes? Some mutated fig wilt? Best of luck with it.

Ryan, I hope you are a fisherman -- recycle the fish head, guts, bones into a pot and re-pot your
Preto next season in this mix. It should perk up your Preto. I have done this for a few years on
weak plants. Currently I have a few plants like Sofeno, Gypsy, Cajun Gold, I258, Blk Maderia
Maderia, V. Dauphine, Maltese Falcon etc on this mix and I have to stop fertilising these plants. I
also keep these plants in a green house so that it is consistently humid.

This tree has been sick since I rooted it 2 years ago, it was only about 6" tall till this season when it had a growth spurt but it still looks sick. I am a fisherman paully, I'll give that a try. I usually recycle my fish heads for crab bait but I'll try some with the figs.

Ryan,

I have Preto for exchange but am not allowed to export neither you may import.
but I may export 'talking' !
Looking at the small Preto on your picture, and for rapid results, I believe that a treatment from now on with the correct dose of Amino Acids could well change the picture for the better. This is what I do in similar situations and always wit very good results The liquid formula I use contains:

Amino Acid totals -------14,4%
Amino Acid free ---------12%
Nitrogen total ------------08%

Mostly prepared from plants, is a rather dense product (1.3) , thick and looks like asphalt
This should be available in you area with the local brand name.
My dose for above formula is 2 table spoons per 12 litre of water

I do use the fish products suggested by Paully, fishmeal as well  and they are great for the coming upotting of that Preto and others and, please grind and use all those  crab shells, another good supplement of calcium and micros.

OT - by the way once you talk bait, my best an most productive option for the hook are the med size
'shell less' crab. This works as candy for the heavier stuff
