I moved these three plants into the green house to see if the added heat would allow them to ripen. All three are responding very well. The Preto is without leaves, yet the 2 figs seem to be ripening normally. The Palermo Red still has a few leaves and 2 of the figs are ripening and others are turning lighter like they want to ripen also. Black Ischia has some leaves and the 2 dark figs are almost ready to pick, just a few more days.Preto, you can see the honey plug in the eye and where some has drained down the fig.Palermo Red with 2 ripening figs and others turning. Black Ischia's two ripening figs.

Thanks Nick, let me try again. I've been having 'puter problems. Black IschiaPalermo RedPreto
Nice pic's. Any figs ripening now is a real treat.
If you have Sal's C., do you find it to be the same or different as Palermo Red?
nypd, I lost my Sal "C" so I can't do a comparison. Hopefully I can get another Sals soon. Paully, yes indeed and I can't hardly wait a few more days until they are ripe."gene"
Well today I picked one Preto and one Black Ischia. Both were perfectly ripe but both were not the best tasting. I hope that they taste better in the summer time. They were very sweet and good but I was looking for a more robust fig flavor. I know it's late in the year and most of the leaves have fallen, so maybe that plus being young and in a pot might have influenced the flavor. Guess I'll have to wait until next year to find out."gene"Preto and Black IschiaBlack Ischia and PretoBlack Ischia and PretoBlack IschiaPreto
Gene, Whats the average temperature for this time of the year. Nice colour.
Paully, the temps have been ranging from 60 in the early morning and 80 in the afternoons. This morning after the cold front came through it's now 41 degrees and the high for today is 63. Then tomorrown it will get back to the normal 60's to 80's again. We usually don't get freezes until mid to late December and when it does freeze it usually just overnight (very early in the morning). Once in a blue moon we get a real blast of cold Canadian air and it will stay below 32 during the day. I can only remember a few of those in my lifetime. Some years back it got down to 18 degrees and stayed below 32 for a few days and the bayous froze over. Four days later and we were back in the 50 to 70 range of our normal winter days."gene"
Wow, such temp. variations can easily do a lot of damage to fig stems.
