Pretty excited for my Prato

BLB posted some photos of his ripening Prato and it got me so excited I had to share some recent shots of my own plants. Both are in pots and just over 1 year old. They survived the DE winter and seem to be doing very well, each has a lot of healthy leaf coverage and is absolutely loaded with unripe figs. My plants seem to node after a very short length. I hope this is not an undesirable quality, perhaps the result of pot growth... In any event I'm anxiously awaiting the swell.

Very healthy plant there Tim. I'm glad I helped spur you on to post. Preto is supposed to be an excellent tasting fig, one of the best. It does take a pretty long time to ripen though. I didn't note the date I first saw figs forming on mine but I'm thinking it takes around a 100 to 110 days from forming to ripening. Keep that in mind as you wait for your figs. Patience is key and of course, enough warm weather to do the job. Post more pics when yours begins to ripen

Looks good

Martin pointed out my misspell in another post, oops :(

BLB, the unripe fruit have been on the plant since mid to late June at least.  We're supposed to have a very hot day in DE today but the next 10 look to be in the 60's and 70's.  I hope this is enough to coax ripening.  Even if I only get a couple fruit I'm really excited to taste them.  I only ever hear good things about their flavor.

Tim,
Thanks for posting pictures and commentary.
I'm looking forward to figs from Preto also, but my cuttings were only started in late spring.
Good Luck.

I think you are close enough to have similar or same weather patterns. It stays hotter here in the city though, not sure where you are, but it's Delaware so close by. If you saw figs formed in June, we will need warm weather into early or mid October which we can easily have around here. I think you'll get a couple to ripen anyway.
