Good MorningThis is my first post in this forum but I have been reading your forum for some time.I wish I had such a good climate for planting fig trees. I live in Poland in 6th climate zone. It is a big chalenge to plant fig trees in our country. In most of winters the fig trees are frozen up to the ground level.Tne smummer months are not also as warm as in warmer zones. I can only dream about main crop - fruits do not grow ripe. I want to try to plant a tree by the wall o the house - may be the figs will grow ripe in this place. I have bought the early variety of fig - Bruncwick. I have been growing it in a house to plant it in May in that place. I have noticed strange spots on the leaves.I suppose it is a virus but I am not really sure. I hope you know what is the reason of such a symptom. The spots on young leavesThe spots on mature leaves
Looks like fmv. Try adding pelletized dolomitic limestone, mineral supplement and some good fertilizer.
Welcome to the forum Art! I had a similar situation with my Brunswick cuttings last spring -early summer but after the second growth spurt the spots went away ant the little trees looked great by late August. No signs of the spots this year so I'm suspecting some form of deficiency on early growth. Rafael is on the money with his sugestion. Best of luck with your figs. Awesome variety by the way. I hope it performs well in your climate!
Welcome Art - can you post a picture of the underside of the leaves also?
I have planted my fig tree under led growth for 2 months to speed up its vegetation. The alarming symptoms appeared on an 8th leave. Before all was OK. Those spots have disturbed my plans because I have already planted one variety of fig tree - Perett and when I plant Brunswick near it then the desease will pass on a healthy tree.Ebone - I can do the picture tomorrow because it is getting dark now but I can tell that there are no spots on the underside of the leaves.
Good Morning,I send pictures of the underside of leaves as I promised. There are no discolorations. Only thru the light you can see spots from the upper side of the leaf.
