Hey, does anyone know whether the "Puglia" fig in the F4F database requires pollination? If anyone is growing it, can you tell me a bit about its habits and overall flavor? http://figs4fun.com/Var_P_info.html#PUGLIA My mom is Pugliese so I thought it'd be cool to get her a fig variety that hails from over there. But I want to make sure it's good enough, or can at least produce without the wasp. Also, how do you recommend I go about getting a hold of of this variety? For that matter, if anyone has any recommendations/resources for figs from the regions of Puglia or Lazio, let me know! Thanks!

Best Apulian fig is the Rigato del Salento variegated.

Thanks! It's beautiful. The info I've been able to find says it's similar in appearance to panache and produces a breba, whereas panache never does. That one? Where did you try it? Do you remember whether the eye was closed?

That fig is only in Italy unfortunately. No one I know of has it in North America. Unless you make a friend overseas who will send you cuttings. Unfortunately, I have no answer to this problem, and so, the item will remain on my wishlist for the foreseeable future. My advice: go on holiday to Puglia and bring back your own cuttings, if you dare.
