I have two figs one LSU gold and one Kadota that I bought when I was in Tampa from a little nursery these are the first fruits and they are both purple.
So now I have two more unknown figs. 
we did have a light frost last week is there a possibility that the frost will turn them dark? the flesh on both was light pink and sweet but not real good.
any feedback would be appreciated

Hi Jim, I don't think the weather is to blame. Welcome to fig confusion. I have quite a few unknowns myself due to my buying here & there. You'll have better luck buying from forum members. There are some reputable nurseries too, but then, if they don't produce their own stock, they're at the mercy of their suppliers. Even though they are not what you wanted, wait & see---they may be delicious.

Sound like LSU Gold is a synonym for money. Must be a good seller. My LSU Gold (not) did at least turn out to be gold colored, a beautiful fig at that. I'm about to rename it "gene's crazy". Here it is the middle of November and just about all fig trees here have lost there leaves and are just about dormant. My crazy fig is still grow like it was spring. It is putting on new leaves and fruit. I just checked it a few hours ago and it seems to be sprouting brebas. I thought changing from daylight savings time was screwing with my head, looks like my tree has a worst case than me, haha.

the last few figs I have gotten have been from members here and in the future I will get them only from people who know what they have and where it came from.
I have had trouble with ID on palms in the past but in all the years collecting palms, bamboo,daylilies, and other fruit never have I had to put so many plants in the unknown catagory.

but this fig stuff sure is fun and the extra work is well worth it
