question

What does it mean when they say desert king ( for example) is a 《san Pedro type fig》 ???

Thats strange. That you. I have been seeing this in descriptions of different figs. There is another type too.

You already know about San Pedro, Common and probably Caprifigs.   What's left is Smyrna.  That wont produce any ripe figs without pollination or chemical intervention.

RC I thought they called "comon figs" COMON because they are very common. I know about the names but not actually what it means. I not a old timer in the fig world yet. Lol. I will remember san Pedro now! comon fig means does need pollenated. I got it. And capri fig is a male fig.

I think what you wanted to say is right.  Common figs do NOT need pollination.

Caprifigs have male and female flowers.  Most of them are inedible.  They have 3 crops.  Of those, only the Profichi has male flowers (in general).  The other two crops are the winter mamme and the autumn mammoni.

You will be an old timer any day now  :)

Thats a hole lot of information in that little paragraph. Put its a starting point. I can learn each word at a time. Like mammie. Lol

Yea, I thought Common meant easy to obtain. I learn something new everyday. Thanks for the good question and good answers.

Well i am not,the only one. Thank armando.
