Question about airlayering

When is the best time. I read Leon's great post with pics but I was wondering if it can be done when dormant or after fig crop has been picked. I would hate for the branch to break with figs still on it. I'm in FL. and hurricanes season is started. My fig is in a pot and I will move if heavy winds comes. I'm sill concerned with the branch breaking it is about 1/2 inch in diameter and 3 ft tall.
Thanks

The best time is when the branch that you are trying to airlayer is actively growing - which means that it will be active in rooting, as well.

If the branch has fruit on it, yu will not want to remove it from the parent plant with fruit on it, as that will be a major drain on energy and resources needed to further develop your new plant. You would need to remove the fruit.

Post a picture of the tree or branch that your thinking of doing this

if the tree is only 3 feet tall why would you want to air layer

for your question I think that this would be the best time

anybody think different please post I'm also curious
