Question about Blue and black Celeste

Are these figs heirloom figs of Louisiana ?
South Louisiana has so many celeste fig trees from very yound to very old huge trees. They are very easy to find. Just on my tstreet their are five old trees. Just curious. I picked up a tree in baton Rouge 2 years ago they wanted 50 dollers and all other figs were 23.00 doller. Owner of nursery wasnt there so i had to buy it. Makes black figs with leaves similar to celeste. Looks old but grows slow and stays about 4 foot high. Gets covered with figs. Really just want to know the story of blue and black Celeste. Tha ks

Do you think it is Italian Black?  I've heard people call a regular Celeste a blue fig.

Chapman, some people often refer regular Celeste as a blue Fig or blue Celeste because they think it's a synonym of a regular Celeste . I was assured by a collector in France that Blue Celeste is in itself a Unique and rare variety. Here are some pics not mine so I'm just sharing the link . https://figuesdumonde.wordpress.com/2017/01/03/blue-celeste/

That is interesting Vinny.  A very nice looking fig.

Yes, there is a Blue Celeste and a Black Celeste.  I have them both.  Black Celeste is not as hardy as Celeste.  Plain ole Celeste is reddish brown in color.  Blue Celeste is around the same size but turns bluish in color.  Black Celeste is jet black in color.  I got 2 large Black Celeste trees.  Both of mine came from Dalton Durio in LA.  If you have Black Celeste, you have a rare tree.  Treasure it!  You don't see them for sale on eBay!

If you got two large trees, share the love!! ;)

Richie, call up Dalton Durio of Durio Nursery.  He's right down the street from you in Opelousas, LA 70570.  He has some Black Celeste for sale.  He emailed me his list about 2 weeks ago.  He will explain the history if you want to know more about them.
