Question? Is Vasilika Sika the Same as Dalmatie?

I know Dalmatie is very cold hardy, but is Vasilika Sika cold hardy? I have both, but wondering if UCD had had them tested genetically?

They both look almost identical (fruit and leaves).

Comments?

wow. could you post photos?

From another site (i left out the url for the site because these guys get hit hard with requests when this stuff is posted):

A previous post about Vasilika Sika:

Vasilika Sika (these photos are not all mine):

You are right.

Maybe Stella and White Greek too?
And I thought that Dalmatie is rare in the USA:)

Dalmatie is very rare, and so is Vasilika Sika. I hope to compare them both this year, so we will have to see.

Stella is very common, I have a rooted one come in this year. ;)

There are 4 similar, White Greek, Vasilika Sika, Dalmatie and Stella.

Vasilika Sika and White Greek may be the same as one another. Neither seems to be identical to Stella or Dalamtie. Dalmatie and Stella are closer to one another than to the other two, and might be the same.

San Pietro from UC Davis ,I grew and is very Similar to Stella and Dalmatie

Here is the link to Ukrainian website. There are few pics of fig called Dalmatica (rus. Далматика). Also there are some of White Adriatic and Crimean Black figs on same plate.

According to Russian fig lovers Stella is the cold hardy variety of Dalmatica.

Also some more names of well known varieties:

White Adriatic = Wild Strawberry, Sochi #8
Brunswick = Chapla, Buzoy Burunu, Caucasian Pink, Shavi from Sukhumi, Madonna, Magnolia, Clementine
Dalmatica = Armud Inzhir, White Turkey, Kusarchayskiy, Kirovskiy, Lagodekhskiy #1, etc.

Violette de Bordeaux = Moisson, Crimean Black

San Pietro is in any case a synonym for Dalmatie.

To make it clear, its the same variety.

What is White Greek?

Apnoist!:
To a scientist studying the DNA Genes,San Pietro,Dalmatie and Stella ,may look to be the same plant but not for a grower like me wich grew San Pietro and Stella?
Why,they are not the same for me?
Because :San Pietro Grew well the first 2 years ,I harvested a Handfull of fruits ,from it,but in the third year it stagnated growing, and going trough the Following winter,it was totally dead in the Spring, roots and all.It died because the Fig mosaic virus menacyng Fig mosaic strain it is infested with.
Stella I grow it for 4 years now and all is well,it grows slow but stady.
In the first and second year it had a couple of distorted leaves ,from stress or maybe a light case of fig mosaic virus, but it shook it off and this Past Sommer it was very healthy, and produced about 40 ripe figs ,each weighing about 80-100 grams very dark inside juicy and tasty.
Here is a pix of Stella, inground, tree and fruits this Sommer.
That is why I said that the tree is Similar, but it can't be substituted one from another,In other words San Pietro specymen will never grow or produce like Stella specymen,in my experience.
As for the Vasilika Sika,I do have an young specymen aquired this Sommer from a gardener I traded with,it is young but I have seen the mother plant at the Home of Gardener friend, and tasted one fruit.

In my opinion,it is different than Stella, and very healthy.
Now looking at the Picture of Vasilika Sika By Loslunafarms,I can say that that particular pix show a plant very Similar to Stella and San Pietro?,so My opinion is so far, that:
Some people have a Vasilika Sika Similar to Stella and other people have one, different.
The tree I tasted fruit from had more oval fruits compared to Stella.

Picture worth 1000 words: White Greek

Herman mine is a direct decendant of the variety from Belleclaires but I have seen friends source thiers from Greece where this variety is very popular.

Herman2,
I find your observations very interesting, and also the reports from DNA test´s.
I hope that the mentioned cultivars are diffenert ones, so that we will have different excellent figs in our collections.
For me DNA test´s are not really the last statement of wisdom. Different varieties sometimes seem to be indentical.
Dalmatie´s fruit production seems to be less or not influenced by mosaic for me, not in the greenhouse, nore outside, both inground. Only young plants show mosaic.
The productivity of Dalmatie is already quite good in my opinion -  so I am very curious to compare all mentioned cultivars in near future.
thx
