OK, here are a couple of pics of a fig I picked today.  The object of the quiz is to identify this fig.  The only clues are the pictures, and a couple of statements:

• this variety doesn't usually look quite like this
• this specimen ripened under less-than-optimal conditions

P.S.  Winner gets bragging rights as a fig identifier.

Wow... I step away for an hour or so, and when I come back, I see 9 answers!  Of course, only 8 of them identified a variety/cultivar  (sorry strudeldog, genus and species isn't enough :-).  I can't believe someone got this so quickly, since it looks so far off  (those stripes on the skin just seemed strange).  And on just the second guess, no less.  Andy is right, it's Ronde de Bordeaux.  But a very strange looking RdB, imo.   Congrats Andy, you got it.

Cool! Shape and size did it for me, knowing it ripened in less than ideal conditions helped too.

I just saw this.. I would have guessed RdB based on the bottom eye view and the inside.
