Once again, Thank you all for your carring. Jimmy, Posting earlier was a task alone. I was just injected with pain meds so I had a hard time staying awake as I was typing. Bit better now, the swelling is still there but the fever is gone. The pain comes only when I try to move or stand on my feet, and that alone takes my breath away. Brent, It's all good bro, all in the past now. Happy figging.

Sorry I'm so late to get this. If it's any comfort I was tending my figs. I'm very happy that you are getting better and even more happy that it wasn't the bee venom that you had an reaction too. They say that once that happens the next sting is exponentially worse. Hope you out of there soon.

LOL Martin, I would rather have had Old Butch take a crack on my boxers rears rather than being stung by a bee. Still here in the hospital. Swelling went down just a bit, fever is gone but temps are still up there. Pain isn't as bad and some clear yellow stuff started to come out of the sting area. They inject Dilaudid in me every now and then, I put my head down and close my eyes and start seeing things. Oh ya, life is good.

Hope your leg is feeling better. I have seen many things in the medical field but a bacteria laced bee sting isn't on that list! Hope you can recover at home soon. Hospitals aren't good places for rest.

Nichole, I was too drugged up when I posted the thread. Sorry for the confusion. He said there may be many possibilities on how the bacteria could have got there. It could have been on the bee ( not mixed with the venom ). But they were still running blood tests. But,,,,,since then neither he or any of the doctors have made any mentions of bacteria being present. But they all agreed on it being a serious infection. I just let them do their job and try not to bother them too much, just want to get it over with. If you think there are questions I need to ask them please let me know. I don't know this business so I don't know what to ask. Thanks

I don't think you're missing any key pieces of information. Be sure to finish your antibiotics even after you are feeling better. Noss is right, bacteria is everywhere so it could have been anywhere - on the bee, on you... the sting was just an opportunity to invade and make you feel like crap. As long as it isn't MRSA you're good ;)

Rafed, I've been out of town and just got back last night. I read today that you've been ill! I'm sorry to hear that but I'm happy you are better and at home now. Whew! I still plan to send you and Bill Saxon a Lampirea. I also took your 'hint' last time you were here that my trees needed a bigger home so I've spent the last few weekends uppotting my trees into larger containers. Was that ever a chore but new soil and room to grow...that made a big difference! My trees are looking gorgeous now...alll 100+ of them. Stay well! Sue

Hey Rafed,
Sorry I'm just now catching this thread. Very sorry to hear about your stay in the hospital. Sounds like they took pretty good care of you though. It's amazing how such a little critter can cause such big problems huh?! I hope you are recovering completely. Take care man.
Hi Sue,
Thank you for remembering about the Lampirea. I had completely forgotten about us talking about that. You could have gone without mentioning it and I would have been none the wiser ;). No hurry on my end so please don't fret over it for my sake.
Just a note on a few things I've rec'd from you in the past Sue. I have one each of Chico Strawberry, Preto, and Abebeberia (I never know if I'm getting that spelling right or not :/ ). All three are looking pretty strong and putting on new growth this season. I had two of the Preto at end of last season but the other one just didn't break dormancy this spring. Thanks again for those Sue! I'll do my best to keep them going forever :) .

Rafed, I am so glad you are finally home. Hospitalization is not fun. I spent seven days there in October, missed all the trick-or-treaters. (Husband bought bags of Dubble Bubble bubble gum and passed that out, and our teen said our house was going to get egged for giving out such bad candy...LOL. And no egging happened). Just make sure to follow your doctor's discharge orders, don't rush things, and make sure to do your leg exercises,if allowed, even if it is just wiggling the toes and rotating the ankles...the last thing you need is a blood clot my friend. Take care, rest well, heal soon. Sara

Thanks everyone for the latest comments. Today I'm a little better. Yesterday I was dealing with severe pain. I guess I will be like this for a while. Looks like it's going to be a long ride. ************************************************************* I've been eager to show off some of my rare figs to everyone but pain doesn't permit me to go outside and snap a couple pics. Some of which I doubt anyone heard of. As always they will be available to my fig friends in future dates. ************************************************************ Once again, Thanks to each and everyone one of you for your support, you are my extended family.

I just got a message from our great friend Rafed. He said the surgery went well. The surgery left him with a hole about the size of a quarter in his leg stuffed with gauze and saline. The area was infected and full of puss and was getting close to the bone. He is resting and it looks like he will have a long recovery. Let's keep him in our prayers. "gene"

Hello Gang, I want to once again thank each and everyone one of you for your concern and shout outs. I got released from the hospital last night. I am feeling much better as for pain wise, the swelling is gradually going down. As Gene stated earlier, I have a decent sized hole in my leg due to the infection. The doc said the fluid was near the bone so I consider myself lucky. It is going to be a long healing process. I have a pick in my arm and this morning I started the first of my 14 day IV solution, This is done as an out patient and they re-dress my leg there at the same time. I am happy to be home again with my family. Boy you don't get any rest in the hospital, too much noise. Every minute they come and want to check the blood pressure, take blood, check your temp blah blah blah. I hope in a day or two I will be able to post some pics of my rare figs. I have not been able to see my figs in two weeks. This is the first time I ever spent so much time in a hospital, the longest ever was a couple days when I got my tonsils removed and this was approx. 35 yrs ago. Over all I've been a healthy cat. I consider this being a minor setback, I will come back stronger than ever. I refuse to fall and I refuse to fail. Once again, Thank you all for the shout outs, You are the greatest!
