Raspberry Latte Cuttings

Hi,

OK All done.  No additions to the waiting list.

Trying to get caught up and cleaned up around the greenhouse.  I had no choice but to hack back the Raspberry Latte plant the I grew from cutting I received from Encanto about 3 years ago.

For me this tree has produced very little fruit but grown like a weed.  It is easily over 9 ft tall and 2.5-3" trunk.  I have cut it back so that I can fit it into a van to bring it home.  Reading some of the recent posts I think I need to see if I can find a better location for it and maybe get some fruit since it sound good.
Worse case it might be a great tree to graft on as it has great shape and is a strong grower.  It came from CA so I assume it was exposed to fig virus.

Since I can't tell you how good it is or how well it will produce in your area I am offering 4-5 cuttings for $10.00.
Sorry no shipping to CA

Not sure how many I will get so PM and I will confirm you order and send pay-pal information.

Hope I did this right as this is my first time.  Just couldn't see throwing away all those sticks.

Sharon

Looks perfect to me.  Does the $10 include shipping?  Telling people approximately where you live will help them evaluate the info you give

Thank you.  I am in North Carolina and yes I was including shipping.  Hopefully that doesn't end up costing me money.  Actually kind of hoping this will pay for the next 25 lb bag of manure.  Just kidding.  To all who ordered I plan on packing them on this Sunday and shipping on Monday.

Pm sent your way

Getting towards the end of the pile.  2 more packages left and then I will call it done to be on the safe side.  I may have a few left after the first group goes out.  I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Sharon

Thank you for the cuttings... Will try my best to keep them going here in Texas

Cuttings are gone for now!  May have more when I finish pruning in a few weeks.
PM if you would like to be added to a waiting list.  I promise I will let you know one way or another if there are more in 14 days or less.  Thanks.

Oh I forgot to mention Raspberry Latte has strange leaves.  If you search it on this web site you will see the same plant can have wildly different leaves growing at the same time.  I think Jon posted some photos too.  So don't be surprised if you leaves look different from one cutting to the next or freak out and think you mislabeled something.  It is just the way it grows.  My favorite is when they get the long finger like leaves.

That's what my Raspberry Latte leaves look like. They can produce all 5 lobes, all single lobes, or a mix of both, very random.

I found a picture of my 6 month old Raspberry Latte with all 5 lobed leaves. They are a very beautiful fig tree.

Yup.  That what my tree does.  I wish I could make it stay all 5 lobed.  Mine so big it still may not fit in the van.

Holy guacamole...That tree is like 2-3years for me short seasons...

Hi again,

Most of the cuttings were shipped today.  One box is going out tomorrow.  I tried to give everybody at least 1 tip cutting, some thin ones with lots of nodes and at least one fat one.  I figured if you have a preference at least 1 is right.  It's been warm so somethings are already starting to bud up.  You may wish to re-wrap them if you plan on storing them longer than a couple of weeks.

I've learned a few things along the way.  About half of the addresses will be with the pay pal and half with the PM.  Sometimes it is hard to figure out what name went with one address.  I like the if it fits it ships boxes but wow they went up since the last time I shipped something.  I think I could use the padded envelopes (I certainly received bunches that way) but the boxes seem safer.  The people were very nice about everything and I got some tips from a few of my buyers.  I hope everyone has great success with rooting the cuttings.  I always feel if I get at least one I'm good to go.  Everyone who wanted one should find a little bonus too.  That is for helping me with this process.

While I got the last cuttings from the Raspberry Latte I did notice the (2) Panevino White's were out of control.  One busted it's pot and stuck a couple of massive roots into the ground this summer.

If you trim the Panevino White's put me down for cuttings!

The Raspberry Latte cuttings arrived the 11th and one is already showing root signs in water....wonderful cuttings, Thanks!

The USPS flat rate boxes are nice but a padded envelope in cheaper and I have never had cuttings damaged in them.

OK That pretty funny as the cutting arrived before I mailed them (Feb 13th).  LOL.  I think you might have got someone else cuttings rooting or the postal service has developed a time warp.
I suspect they may root fast as it has been kinda of warm here so things are going start popping out leaf buds soon.  I have some figs that I moved into the warm greenhouse about 3 weeks ago that are leafed out and one is starting to pop little figs.

Received your cuttings today, Thank You, they are great.

Received my cuttings yesterday. Thank you again

I got mine too... Thank you very much!...

Once of my favorite figs in flavor hands down. Our tree is 3 years old and the figs were really jammy last year. Thank you Sharon! You folks are in for a treat!

Ok I really got to figure out how to get figs from this tree.  It was over 8' but I really cut it back so I can bring it home.

Fertilize nitrogen in spring and phosphorus firing fruiting times.

schaplin.......you are correct I got them the 15th according to the label I put on the jar....the others were Black Greek I got the 11th that was showing roots so soon. Two of the Rasp. Latte are showing root signs now.  I get excited as the "babies" develop! I have two Improved Celeste indoors with like 6 figs on 12 inch trees! My in ground Celeste has buds swelling and some blueberries and cherry bushes are blooming in E. TN. I fear the ones blooming will be wiped out with additional freezes, March almost always brings in one last cold front and snow.

schaplin,

Raspberry Latte cuttings received and in great shape.  Thanks again for the offer and for the bonus!

It would be nice to have some folks who have been growing Raspberry Latte a few years to come back and give a report.  There are multiple threads talking about this variety from as far back as five years ago, but I have yet to see anyone report back their results with a mature tree other than John with Encanto Farms.  Does the tree ever become productive?  Is my question.  People seem to be excited when they finally get a fig, but they don't seem to ever check back in to report whether or not the tree ever produces full crops.  Even if the news is bad, it would be nice to get an update so that I can make better informed decisions about my tree and the spot in the orchard it's taking up given my space limitations.  God bless.

Marcus
