Ratlesnake Island Fig

Qurious to know how this fig(Rattlesnake Island) performed. In Encanto fig varieties web site, it mentioned its prolific and reportedly good. I have a small plant started from cuttings this year and with the season over, I thought its the right time to search for some answers on how this variant have performed for members of the forum.

Thanks for any info.

Hasn't grown well here. Tree in Orange County has grown much better.

DNA at UC Davis says it is the same as Brunswick, Capitole Long, Doree, and Red Italian.  See Fig Link 1110

Of all the Brunswick type figs I have tried it is the worst performing, slow growth, poor yield, splits at forecast of fog, and sours within seconds of ripening. Taste is nothing special either.

It looks very identical to brunswick as mentioned above. It also have a very open eye, which I doubt it would preform well in humid climates.
here's the picture I took at the ucdavis orchard.

That looks very similar to Brunswick.

But after reading a lot posts concearning identical ID´s of varieties like Brunswick=Dorree, I come to the conclusion, that the field of DNA cannot really be explored yet.
They are very close but not identical. Not in the habitus of the tree nore in the fruit.
However they all perform bad if climate is not hot and dry. But when its the case, they are delicious.

I started 2 cutting received from Jon this Spring.  They were the last to root but I must say, they produced 4 nice size figs for me; but they will not ripen.  The weather in the Carolinas has turned to "true" Fall cool weather and I've started bringing my little trees inside.

I have a 3 large Brunswick trees and I think RSI is related but not the same as Brunswick.  The leaf patterns on my trees are not the same.  Since my 2 trees are small, the best comparison will be next season.  My Brunswick produced some awesome figs this year!  cheers,

My interest to Rattlesnake Island fig was inspired by Ken's report on how productive this variant is in their Hawaii field tests. I am hoping that this variant is slightly different from Brunswick. If it is, it would be a good addition to my brother's collection in similar growing conditions(sunny) of Hawaii minus the influence of volcanic emissions affecting fig growth.

Great feed backs & thanks.

After 2 years, how did this fig performed for you?

Donated tree after 2nd thoughts. Focusing on variants that are more reliable.
