RdB Breba

I thought I would get a chance to try RDB breba. I had 6 on mine. They got to nickel size then their color started changing and then one by one they all fell off. I guess it wasn't ment to be. There's always next year!

I ended up with one breba fig on my RdB.  There were at least three brebas but I suspect the other two were "critterized".  This one (protected with an organza bag) was picked at the peak of ripeness and was excellent.  It was larger than the main crop figs I got last year.  It was also much darker for some reason.  This fig was overwintered in a garage and planted in the ground in early May.  I'm definitely looking forward to the main crop!

RdB is just a kick butt fig. I'm adding them to my 15 gallon pots as soon as they are ready. I am very very impressed by this fig.

This is RDB bud graft made maybe month ago on Dalmatie rootstock.
Is it usual that breba appear on just grafted bud?
Is there chance to taste the one or it will drop in most case for RDB?
Could you comment, please, if somebody had such experience...

I'm afraid I can't help Serge but it will e interesting to see if grafting a small fruited variety onto one which can produce quite big figs helps to increase their size, imaging a RdB the size of a Dalmatie!

Dalmatie has huge size breba, but main is not that big, surely bigger than RdB, maybe twice.
Dalmatie is notisably later ripening (late mor my zone) than RdB, hope rootstock will not make RdB later ripening.
In any case soon will be clear if any influence appear.

My RDB's are coming out of cold storage next week already growing leaves. I never checked for bread since it's known to not grow them, but maybe I'll get a few mains this year. One is in a 7 and another in a 5 Gallon.

Hello Serge
What may have happened was that you did graft a RdB  flower/fruit bud instead of a wood/growth bud of that fig. It happens! That new fig will most probably abort in a few weeks.
But you still have time making a chip bud early spring with the correct bud from your RdB.
good luck

Hello Francisco!
RDB bud is growing good.
Breba stopped to grow, getting a bit yellowish and soft. I think graft should drop breba soon.
Sergii.
