RdB half leaves

I noticed something odd on an air layer i had done last summer on an RdB tree.  It woke up 2 or 3 weeks ago and has put on many leaves.  I looked at it this morning and noticed several "Half" leaves.  The don't look like they were half eaten.  They just grew that way.  I saw at least 4 like this.

my RdB grows like a weed and has ton of misshapen leaves like weeds. tho, the fig tasted great last yr. one lower branch looks very clean. i might air layer it to see what happens next yr.

I had the same thing last year, they will straighten out and give you proper shaped leaves, I wouldn't worry about it right now.

So long as they don't start looking like marijuana leaves, you should be fine.

oh.. wasn't too worried..  just thought it was odd.  I didn't see that on the 6 i started from cuttings last year.  I haven't check the one that this air layer came from to see if it has the same.

That has been my experience as well. I have VdB from 3 sources and they are all growing weird .

James, check if all the Half Leaves are the First leaf of each branch please?

i'm not too sure if the misshapen leave in the spring is from FMV or just some sort of winter damage during the storage. i used to think it was FMV, but now i think it's more of some sort of damage due to cold weather in storage. reason being, i damaged a terminal bud on my Salce. didn't remove that bud. the tree has all normal leaves, but the bud i damaged is putting out misshapen leaves.

martin, you are right.. i don't see this issue on other trees. only figs. roses are looking fine, japanese maples and cherry blossoms are fine. i think figs have not assimilated to american way of life yet. i wonder if they are from some commie nation.. nah.. they are all too cold for the figs. cuba isn't.. but i haven't heard of cuban figs.. yet.
