RDB ON EBAY

27 hours to go and its up to 265.00

How many do you want @ that $$?

It's really not that expensive - free shipping and all... ;)

Giddy Up!

Its still shy of the 385.00 the other day but still long ways to go

I was joking. The $385 was an outlier. Even 'only' $265 is very impressive. :)

Well,I hope the bidders for this one are ging to pay for the item, because the Ronde de Bordeaux I sold before ,the auction winner did not pay for it once realized how much they bid.
So if you are not going to buy it ,do not bid ,please.
Some people act like children on Ebay!

Are you going to put it on Ebay again?

Wow, very sorry to hear that.

He didn't pay?  That's disgusting!  Sorry Herman!  I hope you gave him a bad buyer's review!  Can't buyers be banned for that kind of behavior?

Suzi

He could of easily made his money back by selling cuttings and air layering such a large tree.

That's sad for the other buyers who wanted your fig and were outbid.

Yes!  It's something called Second Chance Offer.  We know a couple members here who really wanted that tree.  I hope you can give them a second chance.

Suzi

Well I can do that but not before I wait ,4 more days after the first five days,it took to open a ,not paid Item case.
Only when Ebay agree to close the case and refund me the Fees,Inception fee and after sale fee ,which in this case is kind of large amount, then I can list it again or offer a second chance buy.

Vasile I'm sorry to hear that happened. Isn't there something that ,for future bidders, you could state in your listing that they must have a proven track record in positive feedbacks? I remember seeing listings stating that and would not accept bids otherwise. I don't know how you would negate those though. Been a long time since I've sold items and rules are always changing.

Herman you can put in your listing also that buyer has to pay in  24-48 hours after the auction closed.
Some buyers and sellers on eBay are disgusting but the most are honest and nice people.
Sorry, Herman that this happened to you.

Unfortunately, the willingness to pay those prices for this fig is why we have fraudsters like the recent one posted here.

No fig is worth that much money, sorry. I give my RDB away for free to locals. I wish everyone else would do the same. There are better tasting figs out there which are more popular and cost less money. Go buy a Negronne. It's also French!

Almost up to 300 now. I'd sell my RDB for half that. It would pay my fig winterization bill.

These prices are scary.

For goodness sakes its a common fig variety with nothing special. What are these people smoking?

That is why I don't sell on EBay because I don't know what will I do with that much money !

On a second thought may be I can use it to buy more potting soil with it for potting after root-pruning otherwise i will have to recycle the pots soil.

Don't forget to give that guy a bad rating and bad comments - I hate people who bid, take chances away from others, and then don't come through!

Maybe they are ebay trolls.  Lurking around to antagonize and start a commotion.  I maybe one of the few people who have never purchased anything on ebay - heck I think I've been to the site 10-12 times at most.

Well it probably did not help H2 that so many members said things such as "no tree is worth that amount" etc after the last auction. I doubt most members would pay so much, but I still think they would have liked to be rewarded for their work. So as much as I agree that it is expensive and way out of my price range I would never try to hurt his business. Maybe it was a troll with some sort of grudge, maybe it was someone who got excited an then felt like a fool after the auction when they read comments here on F4F. None of my business really.

Unfortunately, Ebay is in it to make money.  The higher the price, the more money their % gets them!  They encourage overbidding.  Once you place a bid, you get the dreaded email "You've been outbid."  So you go over and up the ante, and so it goes.  They try to get you to really bid high with their Maximum bid, so some people put in outrageous maximum bids, thinking that it will discourage the bidding competition, but often it does not, and they could end up paying waay more than they are seriously willing to pay.

Ebay is very happy though.  So is their partner in crime, PayPal.  They both make money off the bidding/selling system.

I have been guilty of overbidding, but never got stuck, but my favorite way to buy is to skip the bids and just buy it now.  The price is what it is!  I get what I want with no surprises.

I certainly hope Herman gets a decent price for his Ronde De Bordeaux next time around.

Suzi

That is some good insight Suzi. It amazes me that there are so many "strategies" for winning on eBay.

OMG!  OVER $305 and still 7 hours to go.  I'll let you guys watch the price rise.  I have football to watch today!!
