Recommendations On A Good Foliar Fertiliser.

Any suggestion of a good foliar fertiliser. I am thinking of using it on cuttings -- misting the leaves. Thanks.

Paul,

I can honestly say that I have never heard of anyone trying this. That doesn't say your idea may not work or is wrong. There have been many inventions to this day were made by mistake or ideas like yours. And I think it is a good one and will back you up with it my friend.

Maybe you can try Miracle Gro leaf shine. But I would reserve it to only the figs that are easily found in the market for now just to see. Try it with the B/T or Celeste or a Negronne and wait to see the results.
Another product you might consider would be the Jobes fertilizer spikes.
But you did mention you want to mist the leaves and the leaf shine is the only thing I can think of right now
Good luck

Hi Paully,
i never have tried that yet i dont recall, I would look up foilar fertilizer as i have heard it being done.
The best time to spray your leaves is at night when sun is down reason being is they have what is called hope i spell this right
Stomata's
there like little tiny mouths if you will that are open the biggest at night and take in moisture and such.
Leaves are reported to have more of them on the underside than topside from what i read few years back.

Hey Paully22,I have sprayed my fig trees follage with deluted organic sea weed six times a year with good results.Greener and longer lasting leaves here in Northern Ohio.

Even if you do it, do it only on some leaves on some plants. Leave some good leafs un-sprayed on the plant(s) in case the results are not favourable. If no damage is observed then proceed as you desire so at least the plants will be OK if no benefit seen.

Paully, I've use some MG all purpose that you dissolve in water. The plant I've used them on were well rooted in cup and leaves were already turning dark from being in partial sunlight on the window sill. I've had no problem with them. Some of them are now outside in filtered sun and I'm still misting them. At present, I have another round of cuttings rooting, all of them duplicates. I have them in a shed instead of the house so the temps will vary a lot more and will be hotter in the daytime. I'm not worried about losing any of those so I will be experimenting with them by misting because they will probably dry out quicker. Good luck on yours. "gene"

Paully, there is a good foliar fertilizer  recipe on the D.Garden site. Look at the Brugmansia thread and you will find it listed as the "Recipe". I make this up every year and use it on everything from figs to brugs and everything in between. I haven't had it kill or burn any yet. I use about a tablespoon to a gallon of water. Like rafed said though try it on one before you do them all. I think you will see a difference in a short while. I have a regimen of spraying about twice a week.
Good luck.
Mike
