Record Temps in N Texas!

Would you believe the high today was a record 58F!!  This is so whacked for us and tonight it is suppose to go down to 48F!!

I don't know what to make of this, rained buckets for weeks, record low temps - the figs are OK, the flowers in the garden are hanging in there, some of my herbs look really good! Some herbs are stagnant. Tomatoes are fair, peppers a bit less then fair, trying a tomatillo and it does have a good amount of flowers on it. Asian long green beans turned yellow from all of the water.  The Knockout roses are loving it!

Last April was the same way.  I got a late start, then all the stuff started to happen with the dog, the man and my Mom so the garden took a back seat.

The good news is the temps are going to warm up the rest of the week and no chance of rain till next Tuesday!  There should be good growth on everything green:)

This is a picture of the Asian long bean - I picked up transplants and put them in about 2 weeks ago.  If they don't recover I put in some seeds for a different pole bean.

Here in East Northeast Texas we have had a miserable year with all the rain.  I am glad to get it, I just wish it would not come all at once.  I had planted 12 fig trees in one area and the western end has retained so much water that I had to dig up 6 of them.  I will plant Mayhaw in those location, they love the swamp.

48 shoot it was 32 here this morning and 28 in Marfa....that's SW Texas....Way south of Dallas.

We were 92F or more yesterday and today with less that 20% humidity and a "nice" 10-15 mph breeze - basically a convection oven. Supposed to be morfe or less that for the rest of the week.

We're having the same temps here in Altadena.

How do you keep your cuttings from wilting in the heat? Do you have an air conditioner for them?
My son closed the door to my indoor sun room yesterday where I have my cuttings. He doesn't like the hum of the sun lamp. The temp went up to around 100. Two cuttings that were leafing out wilted. You would thing figs would be more heat tolerant. I've moved all cuttings with roots outside, but still have some more cuttings inside trying to root. I've turned off the light and hope that will help keep the temps down. I would ask "How hot is too hot?" but I think my wilted cuttings already answered that.
