Red Flag on Ebay on Red Sicilian Cuttings

"leskev1212" is selling Red Sicilian cuttings using the same picture "popcornqueen1987" was using in May. What does this mean? I'm not sure but it does throw up a red flag to me.
I bought some of these cuttings and they were literally torn - not cut - from the tree. In fairness they were very fresh and all have rooted, but  I'm now very suspicious that the seller is correct about the ID and these aren't just some unknown being ripped apart and sold to foolishly trusting souls on Ebay , like me. I'm always leery of ebay sales so I keep a sharp eye out for fraud. Is this one?

Didn't some people think Leskev and PopcornQ were the same person? Or at least living in the same SC town?

My first ebay cuttings were some Missions from ebay from an 'unknown' seller. Won't know for another year if that is what I got. I didn't pay too much fortunately, but it has been a good learning experience. As in, don't do that again. But that is just me.

yes they are the same person I bought 10 from her they were also broken on the ends I recut them and put them in the perlite mix and in no time they rooted like crazy the buds took a long time to pop I think about half of them are leafing out now and the other half are just about to pop

The cuttings were fine. I bought 20 and she sent extras. I'm just never comfortable with stuff from people I don't know and would never sell a rooted cutting from this person until I was sure what it was. I had a new method I wanted to try and actually rooted the 2 dozen cuttings 3 different ways. All 3 methods were successful and the cuttings were very fresh, but it appeared she just walked out to the tree and broke branches off to fill her orders. Why the need to sell again under a different name?
Gina I missed any discussion about this before and did not realize this had already been looked at. I paid very little for my cuttings but at the time people were bidding quite a lot for these and she sold a lot of them. I waited til the end when everyone else was satisfied and paid a very reasonable amount. I didn't want to take cuttings from my trees and lessen my fig crop and needed cuttings, so I'd do it again -maybe not with her - but the trees can't be sold without serious consideration to true ID. But as I give away and just "gorilla plant" a lot of figs these are ok with me. I know a nice pond that could use at least 6 or 7 of these alone.

It was only a brief mention, but I remember because it was coincidentally the same day PQ joined this forum. Perhaps if anything being said is unfair, she could shed some light on it. :)

Here are pictures of the cuttings now I bought them in the middle of May there good trees to have around when friends or family come over and want a fig tree and aren't particular about the variety

Gina,
I sent her a note through Ebay telling her we were talking about her and she should join.
Dave lets keep in touch and see if we ended up with same variety.

Good to hear that Gina :-) I bought cuttings from here. The only thing I didn't like was that she was not able to provide mother pictures of actual tree.

None of their pix were theirs as far as I could tell. They were using some of mine, said they would remove them, and did not. Definitlely as buyer-beware situation.

???

I did not buy anything from them, and know nothing about them or their cuttings. :)

Also sells blue and pink mophead hydrangeas as different varieties. I think they were also selling persimmons without even saying the species. I always check sellers out well.

I have to ask, what was the free gift?

The woman's name as far as I can tell - was on package and I won't reveal or give address as I sent her a note and hopefully she'll answer these concerns. If not, if anyone wants whatever info I have just say so. But first let's be fair and give her the chance to be heard.

I tend to watch Ebay very closely and if I do buy anything I get real interested in whoever sold it to me. I keep package receipts and all correspondence. There are plenty of honest folk on Ebay but I do think they should join the two main fig forums if they want to sell fig plants, etc.

Ok Gina?

I didn't get a free gift.

OK by you now Gina?

Yes, thank you very much. :)

For all we know, those cuttings are indeed Red Sicilians. Time will tell.

I bought some of their cuttings and one plant. I received some tomato seeds as the free gift. I didn't get anything with the plant.

will do....

Thanks, Rafed! Mine just got their leaves. I'll take a look in the AM on my cuttings.

Good work on my tree Rafed looks great!!

I had bad luck with popcorn queen's red Sicilian cuttings.  They all died.  A couple are in the ground, so I don't know what's going on there, but no green peeking out yet.

And to clarify - Sicilian Red, Sal's Corleone, and Aldo's are the same variety. Do I have that right? Thanks.
