pully22. as regards to Dauphine I started two of this variety this winter in pots, already established from last year cuttings, very fragile looking 'pencil trunks' size, which I have been caring as best as I can (wives do not like this sort of attention to fragile trees - in this particular case a variety from Paris (?) and above all, called Dauphine!). By mid March some minute brebas appeared on the wood and fearing that those skiny Dauphines could not hold the weight, I decided to cut them off and give them some diluted organig fertilization.
They have so far done quite well, look stronger now and showing already 4 or 5 figs each. Will send pictures on a coming message. By the way, I have on purpose exposed these young trees to caprification (which I believe they do not need) but as my grand dad always said : do it, for sure you are not going to loose anything and may be...you will be surprised.
