I always try to buy from the seller mentioned in post #2 if possible. Around 98% of the cuttings I've bought from him root, sprout and turn into little trees.
I've had problems with the cuttings from three other sellers on eBay.
Four cuttings I bought from a different seller were dipped in wax on either end. Two died. The two that didn't die completely became dead and moldy under the wax part. I cut both dead waxed ends off and am trying to root the remaining two nodes on each. This is with a variety that one person claims is his easiest to root fig.
Three of the cuttings I bought from another seller have refused to root, have developed touches of mold, then one died.
Of the four cuttings I bought before I learned the seller was a fake, two rooted beautifully and have the correct leaf structure for the fig they were claimed to be. Only time will tell if they are genuine.
I get an almost 80-100% success rate rooting cuttings from all the other people on eBay.
All cuttings and sellers are not equal.
