I'm looking to buy an RdB I tried both Edible Landscaping and http://www.justfruitsandexotics.com . Are there any other reputable online sellers of Plants?

Thanks

RdB will be hard to find in most commercial nurseries.  This auction for cuttings is listed by a reputable member and noted rodent killer in this forum

LOL, "noted rodent killer".  I think I need to go on a hunt! ;)

Yes, I know HarveyC not personally but from his awesome listings lately :).. I'm going to be bidding on that auction. It's on my Radar ;) This time I won't miss it..

I use the list of Reputable Sellers on ourfigs.com but its not up to date.

I'm also going to bid on Brooklyn White, Nero 600m and Italian Honey.

This sold recently I wasnt sure who Plant-creator was :(

I dont know if plant creator is a member here but he seems to have good stock. I got an RDB from him and its a nice plant.

If I had more experience I would take chances on sellers but I'm just starting out..

Sal , I have several RDB plants like the one I have now listed on ebay.
You can PM or email me if interested.
To me this variety is one of the best for my zone 5 or your zone 6a.

I just PMd you !!! Yes I want it .. I also bought Marseilles Black VS Cuttings from you.. I missed out on a nice auction by WillsC last week.

This is the list of who I bought cuttings from on ebay so far.

Celeste                    e-bellavita     ebay,
Brown Turkey            angel-man-56 ebay
Hardy Chicago          freeman10176 ebay
Marseilles Black VS     drivewayfarmer  ebay    I got lucky today they're a figs4fun member

I always try to buy from the seller mentioned in post #2 if possible. Around 98%  of the cuttings I've bought from him root, sprout and turn into little trees.

I've had problems with the cuttings from three other sellers on eBay.

Four cuttings I bought from a different seller were dipped in wax on either end. Two died. The two that didn't die completely became dead and moldy under the wax part. I cut both dead waxed ends off and am trying to root the remaining two nodes on each. This is with a variety that one person claims is his easiest to root fig.

Three of the cuttings I bought from another seller have refused to root, have developed touches of mold, then one died.

Of the four cuttings I bought before I learned the seller was a fake, two rooted beautifully and have the correct leaf structure for the fig they were claimed to be. Only time will tell if they are genuine.

I get an almost 80-100% success rate rooting cuttings from all the other people on eBay.

All cuttings and sellers are not equal.

I think I boight from the same seller on eBay, with cuttings dipped in wax at both ends. His location is Rivers edge, New Jersey. I bought three different varieties, so there were quite a few cuttings. They came almost dead, One completely dead and spongy,  but I tried to root them anyway hoping some will survive. only ONE cutting showed a weak sign of life after two weeks, but that also is dead now. Almost all the cuttings I started at the same time from other people are doing well.
Well, it is lesson learned, but this is one seller on eBay people should watch out for.
This is one of the reasons I do not want to buy off eBay. I would not have bought it from this guy if somebody I know had the varieties at that time.

All of the Cuttings I bought were Healthy and packaged well. Still rooting.

My issue will be 2 years from now when I realize what I thought I bought was sold as something entirely different. Then what?? I find out I kind of wasted time on a Fig tree that was some generic one that I have 5 of already.

I say waste of time only because I don't want all of the same tree and because I want what I purchased. So after reading a lot now I'm only sticking to Reputable Seller's list on ourFigs.com

If it's not what you ordered, you can always use it as a root stock and graft onto it.
But it may be a lot easier to get it right to begin with.

I can totally relate. I wasted two years of great anticipation and effort on a supposed 'Black Ischia' I bought - only to find out it wasn't the real deal. Fortunately a kind member gave me cuttings of the real deal from UCD. But good money and two years down the drain still does not rest easy...

I recently bought a beautiful Jolly Tiger from Plant creator. I have bought other trees also and he has a nice collection. I would recommend him.

Sal if you are still looking for RdB let me know. I will be in Ulster county in a few weeks and have a small rooted RdB.

I purchased cuttings from angle-man-56 last week. They were all nice sized and very healthy looking, and he packed/shipped them very well. It's been just 5 days from the time I received them and they have already started developing nice roots (I just couldn't resist sneaking a quick peek).
