Jolly tiger figs are a Chimera of a popular Japanese fig, possibly Masui Dauphine. Here's a fig that ripened off a non variegated branch of the Jolly tiger.
Hi Bassem,Have you even had a Non-varigated branch revert back to being variegated again?Beautiful fig BTW.Thanks for posting.
Its nice to see suprises in one tree.Bass i know there is a variety of MP that is called col de dam blanca - nera which on the same tree has both white and black figs.talked about it here http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/coll-de-dama-blancanegra-a-peculiar-variety-6164502I think they are a nice conversation piece. how was the taste?
Aaron, I never seen a non variegated branch turn variegated again, I am sure it might be possible. Eli,It tasted sweet, not very rich, will need more figs to sample. I think that's the same variety grown commercial in Japan greenhouse culture.
I have a few jolly tiger all from 1 starter cutting. 1 started straight green and is still all green. Two are all variegated and 1 started variegated and recently reverted to green on the last two leaves. Very strange. Should I assume that the fruit should taste the same?
