I'm trying the paper towel in a zip lock rooting method. Do I need to keep re-wetting the paper towels until
I see roots start? It's been like 17 days and I see nothing. Cuttings are still green if I scrape them a little

Everyone has a different way of rooting. So you will get many opinions. When I use the baggie method, I moisten the white paper towel then I wrap the cutting. Making sure the paper is not to wet........Checking back on them about 7 to 10 days, I rinse the cutting in the sink. Then I wrap with a dry paper towel. I look to see if the paper got somewhat wet, not to wet. The main thing is to keep the humidity up in the bag. Note: some cuttings will take about 6 weeks to show anything (initials).  Most cuttings are not like that. For me Kadota is fast within 10 days, Celeste 10 days. Gulban 6 weeks, Preto nothing happened decided to graft onto a tree.  Good Luck !!!

Too wet is your enemy.  If the paper is damp that's enough.

wet paper towel is big no no. if it's dry, get a new paper towel, wet it, squeeze the day lights out of it and just drop it into the baggie.

I re-edited my former response, wrote it up fast and it didn't make sense. The main thing is keeping up the humidity. Lately I mix half of my cuttings using the baggie method and the other in a plastic water bottle. Having great success as long as I check on them for mold.

I've been spraying the paper towel with one if the bottles hair dressers use. It's damp, not really "wet".
