ripe brebas as of 6/28

It has been a good hot season so far for figs. The vista ripened with oiling, but the rest were naturally ripening.
In order of best taste,
Red Lebanese tasted the best, Although wasn't as red like the main crop.
followed by Desert king, Vista, Negretta.

Wow, that's early for zone 6. Were any of these ripe figs started under green house conditions. My in-ground DK brebas are about 30 days to ripening. Others like Long Yellow & Santa Cruz Dark started indoors may ripen earlier than DK.

These are from trees grown in containers, overwintered in a garage.

I had My Desert King ,buried in the soil, next to house.
It is almost ready,ripe,now.

Herman, I see a lot of main crop on your tree. Too bad we don't have a wasp to pollinate in our area.

I've picked 3 VdB brebas already this summer.  one was under-ripe, one was ok and the last was great!  There's one more on there and a number of very small main crop figs forming as well.

VdB is one of my few figs which isn't growing leggily, pushing forth just a few leaves from the ends of the branches.  I swear I've got at least 5 plants more than 4 feet tall with just 2-4 leaves on each of the spindly branches.

UCR 143-36 has breba on it, but they've not done anything in quite a while.  still rock hard.

Yes it looks like from now on,this fig is going to deliver, that is why I said one need this plant if breba wanted.
Next year all those spots where main crop grow, the new breba will grow,so if well kept over the winter,it will be loaded next year.
