I got to take a quick trip down to my folks new place in Tx over the holiday and visit some of my figs that have moved out. Interestingly the RGNN was ripening fruit while I was there due to the unique care it received this summer.
This fig was ripened indoors without much direct sun, so the color is not very dark. It had started to spoil inside, but the flavor of the good (not as spoiled) parts was like an over ripe cantaloupe. The fig is large with an open eye. I look forward to trying some from my tree this summer.
One note, the pictures of the ripe fig are HDRs that had an automatic color filter applied. A few of the highlights are a bit over done.

 
 

Andy, thanks for the update on this fig.  It looks like it could be a winner.  I hate to bring this up but do you have any idea what variety this actually is?  I am assuming there was a mix-up between GN and a known variety.

Steve, I have no idea at this point. The source of these cuttings claims it is what he received as GN. I'm hoping other members eventually make some suggestions as to what it might be. Though the ripe fruit pictured above is not the best candidate for ID.

This is a fig off of one of the 2 plants I got from Rob. I have not kept up on this variety. Is there some question about it being genuine? thx

Michael, Myself and a few other forum members that purchased cuttings from Rob have found that the trees, leaves and fruit, don't match the description of Genovese Nero.

Are they any other known variety? I didn't pay much attention to mine yet, but come spring I certainly will. What does Rob have to say about this? I remember Rafed being mad that he gave Rob GN and Rob went out and sold a ton of cuttings on Ebay.
I just found a note to myself to check this variety as the figs were not exactly what I had expected. hmmm.

I need to talk with you anyway about whether you want cuttings or starts of the stuff I owe you (BdDS and CdD N). I'm out of it tomorrow as I have a root canal but after that would be good.

@ Andy, Figs in my green house never ripen to the same color as it would be in good sun, like in summer
months. Don't lose hope. Unless there was a mixed up, I think Rob has the genuine Genovese Nero as Rafed had
related to me during his visit to my place that he had shared cuttings with Rob. Rob lives just down the street from
Rafed. Perhaps next season Genovese Nero would ripen in nice hot weather. BTW, fig shape wise does have some
resemblance of my Genovese Nero.

Thanks Paully! We will see how things shape up this summer, but based on the leaves and fruit so far I'm not holding my breath for it to turn out to be GN. Either way it should be interesting.
