Ronde de Bordeaux

I had to pick this one a day early due to ants putting holes on the one side. It was still an awesome fig. We gave it a 9 1/2 and 10. Has that nice berry taste and kind of tart like a grape. I've got a handful that will be ripe in the next few days. Also no rain in the forecast either.

Nice looking fig! Keep us posted on your future fruits.

Looks delicious Art!

I will be able to pick my first one in a couple of days, it is showing some cracking already...

Good looking fig.

Art, thanks for the pics and info. I know you have some of your figs in a greenhouse, and presumably some of your others get a head start there. Putting the greenhouse benefits aside, what main crop figs out of your collection are normally earlier than RdB?

Your pics and description really make me look forward to mine ripening even more.

Congratulations!  Mine had 1 fruit its first year which got knocked off in my move and then last year and this year not a single fruit.

Ed, My Brooklyn White, Takoma Violet, and my Unk. Turkey are probably my earliest. I do have a lot of main crop of different varieties about to ripen. Barnisotte, VdB among a few.

Ed, If you decide to get a greenhouse. Try and go as big as you can. I bought the biggest of the Riga series. It's 14 x 20 and it's way too small. I wanted a greenhouse I could heat and store for the winter.

Here's one that I missed earlier. My wife went out and was fig hunting. Perfect 10

Great Pics thanks for sharing. The first RDB that were ready were ok and then I tasted one that was more ripe...Wow. They are Good.

My tree is too new.  No figs this year, but I see what is going to be ahead!  looks delicious!

I never get tired of seeing photos of this year's figs throughout the country. The photography has been wonderful and showing us, who need encouragement, what will be coming our way sometime in the future.

Nice!  I have something to look forward to, as my RdB is only months old, and complements of a forum member!

Congrats Mike.  Sometimes I get a little envious of you guys in the south who get so many main crop figs so early.  (Only brebas have ripened here so far, though, but 5 varieties of breba so far).  Nice figs, and nice pics.

I'm glad you got some Art. Last year I had a dozen or so this year no more than two will even have a remote chance of getting ripe. Your greenhouse is certainly paying off with the jump start.

Hey Art,

Picked my first RdB this morning.
Only 22 gramms, but it was just fanstastic...probably the best fig i've ever had so far.

22 g is okay as long as the taste is excellent.

Great looking fig.
Looks like,...breakfast!

Great story, and good looking fig as well.

RdB has to be one of the better figs. even with slightly open eye, it did rather well this yr. figs tasted great.
