RONDE DE BORDEAUX BREBA

This is going to be the first tree for me to fruit this year. Second in line will be nero 600m. Have thick plastic wire all around this potted tree hopefully the birds and squirrels will give me this one. Only the bottom fig is breba rest is main.

Looking good.  RdB is a great fig!

Cant wait to see the inside. Never had a breba of this, variety.

Good stuff, Richie. Looks like your spring is shaping up well!

Last year my RdB was very late to ripen. This year it was first.

Lookin good over there!

Get used to it Richie, RdB is either 1st or 2nd for me to ripen every year, the breba are definitely worth keeping on the tree.
Good work!

Well t hats good news.! Thanks for your comments cant wait to look at it in the morning. !!!

I'm concerned because my RdB, which is one of my favorite trees, still hasn't shown any signs of coming out of dormancy.  It slept in the garage with the rest of my other 35 or so trees, most of which have leaves and all of which at least have little green buds.  I don't recall this variety being a late starter last year.  But as far as I can tell it doesn't have any dead branches.  Even the tips seem OK.  And if I scratch the trunk, it is green and moist.

So what is going on?

I actually want to pot it up to a 30 gallon (it's in 20 gallon now), but don't want to waste the effort if it's a deader.  So each day I look at it, but no buds yet.

Anyone else had this with RdB?

Hit it with old miracle grow. And get into the sun. Mine last year gave me a slow start and this is what i did. Not the tree shown but another one thats in ground. Seems like potted figs are quicker to produce figs by far. Not as many but quicket. Good luck rob. ;))

RdB is one of my favourite -- reliable and productive main crop. Excellent taste. Ripening 2nd to Florea
In terms of earlyness. It has a tendency to abort most of its brebas.

I have three breba. Big difference easy to tell them apart from main crop one big one is swelling but not ripe.

I'm near you, and my RdeB hasn't had a growth spurt either.  Just a few leaves so far, about the size of half a dollar bill.

Congratulations, Richie!  I hope it tastes great.

What the average high temp each day ? Its very hot here. My dormant figs woke up in mid march .. its been consistently hot for the last 5 weeks. So this plays a big part. Its hard to hurry up and wait lol. You must have a big rdb if its in a 20. Mines in a 4 gallon pot.

Thanks bob. I will post a pic.

Richie, Are you sure it's breba and not a main crop that didn't ripen last year or was too small? becuase RdB rarely bears brebas.

BASS Look at the eye on the breba and look ar the main crop. Eyes are different. Sorry that i had pic of each up
