Ronde de Bordeaux - first ever

Well, this RdB breba was as good as advertised for a three year tree. The taste held up even with all the rain. Very sweet and jammy, a little figgy and no crunch.

I absolutely agree with you Mike the best figs so far. Enjoy.

Looking good Mike,

The RDB is everything good that's said about it and more. Glad you got to enjoy it.

oooh, looks yummie.

those huge    leaves seem to say it cant be grown in a container, right?

susie

Enjoy Mike, it looks delicious.

Susie, that particular RdB is in a 15 gal container that is buried  about 8-10 inches in the ground and mulched heavily with pine straw.

oh yes.. two more months.. two more.. lol

Getting any rust on your leaves, newnandawg?  Mine are starting to have spots...

Shah8, yes I have started getting some on about 12 small (one gal) pots and one 5 gal pot out of 125. I was using Daconil but I
just changed to Bonide Copper soap.

Congrats! That's one nice looking fig!

Very nice Mike. Did not know RdB does produce brebas too.

I have one that I purchased from drivewayfarmer last year and it is growing extremely well.  It has figs all over it

It only has two breba figs and numerous main crop figs that are much smaller.

Congratulations on achieving the RdB level in the Secret Fig Society. As a veteran member of 2 days, I welcome you to this rarefied position and can now share with you the secret handshake. LOL.

Frank, thanks for sharing the handshake. Back in the day, I could remember all that but not anymore. LOL

Mike glad you enjoy this type.

Alan  - Politely disagree ,this plant RdB is not of dwarf type it grows similar to Mission this i know, also in past i have heard mission and such cannot be grown in container because it simply grows to fast and large.

Thats up to the grower to control it's size in container such as i have shown in past with both cultivars.

Congratulations Mike sounds like the wait was worth it.
